Printing a Book in China Can Be a Good Deal if... Edition 1
As you may be aware, last week I was in Hong Kong and the purpose of this trip was to find not only a suitable printing company in China, but one that was outstanding. I spent the week submerged in lengthy meetings with a variety of companies and interacting with these professionals has been extremely productive and eye-opening.
Why, you might ask, did I invest an entire week to personally look for the ideal print shop? The answer is simple: Our two previous book projects, which we had printed in China, did not live up to my expectations. Having studied and worked as a graphic designer, I could see the shortcuts being taken during the printing process, but did not feel I had any control over this.
Now, with the launch of Quantum Dynamics Publishing, it is imperative that we develop strategic professional relationships with printers. And, as with any new business relationship, it is vital that you understand the mindset of your partners. Some of the great reminders over this past week are: Understand the culture of your partner – what drives them, how do they communicate internally and are they inspired to do business with you Understanding their marketing and does it stack up – with today’s technology, every business can look like an award winning business Understanding how they value you as a client – is it just about revenue or is there a desire to have a long term relationship with you There is no doubt that we are well and truly able to operate in a global business environment. But at the end of the day, it still comes down to relationships.
